To make 1.4 update work you need to move folders from half life alyx folder when you 1st go in to were it is installed named core, hlvr and hlvr_addon into next folder called game. you will see the above named folders already exsist in the game folder as the update puts them in wrong place.
than you need to go to 1.4 update folder so Life.Alyx.VR.Update.v1.4-VREX\VREX\game\bin\win64 and copy all files to Half Life Alyx\game\bin\win64
than you need to right click on game icon on your desktop and add -vr in target so target will look like this Games\Half Life Alyx\game\bin\win64\hlvr.exe” -vr -steam -noasserts -noiveasserts +map startup
you will see it is just missing the -vr part at the start other wise the game will load on your monitor (this last part is mentioned above)
hello update 1.4 does not work, it only works after update 1.2 I tried update 1.4 several times but in 1.4 it always started the game only on the monitor there was no overlap vr on my oculus quest. Please help me with some ideas

Jeremy. Did you install 1.2 before you installed 1.4?
If not. Do that. Then do clemenator’s fix to stop it opening on your monitor instead of your headset!

After applying the patch i get an error: “Internal error 0x0D: Interface not found: Steam021!” Looks like this type of error is related to a generic type of steam crack rather than specific to this title but i cant find any definitive fix?

To change the language, search the file “hlvr_english.json” just rename the file into your language like “hlvr_german.json” :*

In case this helps anyone, in order to install v1.2 update, I had to move all folders in e:\games\alyx (in my case) to e:\games\alyx\game\, then run the updater and point it to the top game folder e:\games\alyx

Here’s some importants infos to some problems, first you NEED to update the 1.2 first, choose the file with your Alyx game, and don’t forget to copy all files from VREX folder into your game here : C:\Games\Half Life Alyx\game\bin\win64 , and do the same for 1.4 or your game will have some error.
For launch in VR, Use the following cmdline on your desktop shortcut to load it : hlvr.exe -vr -steam -noasserts -noiveasserts +map startup.
And finaly to change langage you can go to your folder game and search : steam_emu open it with notepad and change langage to your own. And here we go all my littles problem solved with all that options. Have a nice day !
